Where has January gone?

We’re sitting beyond the 15th of the month already. I’m six weeks into my class for the quarter and havent done much work. I’ve stalled on a few of my projects but my reorganization seems to be going along fine.

I like the momentum a new year gets. We go from New Years then roll into  Chinese New Year, Valentine’s Day, Mardis Gras, St Patrick’s Day,  Easter, by then we’ve hit spring and we’re starting to thaw out and warm up. The early holidays have the appeal of  being low gifting holidays. If its a gathering it’s gathering for gathering’s sake. It’s about having a good time. No pressure .

And really shouldnt that be what life is about? Having a good time, no pressure?

What I like about the New Year

I spent the other night going through my files and getting ready for the New Year. Tonight I’ll set up envelopes to keep track of my recipets. I’ve gotten a new planner both for the office and my desk at home. I’ve charged up my Sony Clie and I’m ready to be organized.

Who knows how long it will stick of course. But its always nice to give everything a clean sweep and start over. Declutter the desk, wipe it clean. Blow the cobwebs off the bookshelves and clear off  off the bedside table.

I’m also decluttering my schedule. Taking myself out of commitements I dont have time for, renewing my dedication to commitments I will continue.  Little steps at a time, using the new year as a time to make a positive change for myself.

Always with the reminder of developing a plan before buying supplies. Just like a roadtrip. Look at the map before you fill the car with gas.
